Hokies Get Kicker's Commitment

Hokies Get Kicker's Commitment

Virginia Tech picked up the 14th member of its recruiting class when a kicker from Maryland gave the Hokies a non-binding oral commitment Saturday morning.

DeMatha High (Hyattsville, Md.) kicker/punter Michael Branthover always felt comfortable at Virginia Tech, and Saturday he showed just how comfortable he was there.

"I just committed to Virginia Tech," Branthover texted VTInsider.com. "Go Hokies!"

Branthover impressed the Hokies staff during a summer camp, and was being recruited heavily by the staff.

Branthover said he will enroll in the fall and be on scholarship beginning in January 2012. He is going to enter as a punter and have the opportunity to also place kick and handle kickoffs.

VTInsider.com just talked to Branthover and we will have story up later today.
