Top Safety Talks Tech Football

Brett Bowers

Florida's Brett Bowers is a fast, hard hitting prospect out of Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida. A 6'1, 186 pounder, Bowers has offers from five schools early on – and is hoping another offer will come in soon.

VT Insider spoke with Florida free safety Brett Bowers Thursday night and the safety noted that he will visit Tech later this month. Bowers also gave VTI his list of top schools as well as his thoughts on Virginia Tech heading into Tech's spring game on April 19.

Bowers told VTI that he is very excited about his upcoming visit to Virginia Tech. "Well, supposedly the head coach, Coach Beamer, likes me a lot," Bowers said. "I've been looking at their [web] sites and not too many safety are listed. And I play free safety."

What has Bowers heard from the Tech coaches early on in the process? "They've sent some cards to me," Bowers said. "Coach Beamer said I'm his guy pretty much and that he needs me there at Tech."

Does he think that Tech will offer him a scholarship on his visit?

"Yeah, I've heard that he'll offer me face to face," Bowers said. "And that'd be good because I'll probably make my decision June 1st. "My top 3 are Oklahoma, Alabama, and Virginia Tech, not necessarily in that order." So far, Bowers' other two favorites, Oklahoma and Alabama, have offered Bowers a scholarship early on. Virginia, Ole Miss, and Syracuse have also offered the Florida native.

Bowers has already visited South Carolina, Georgia Tech, and Florida, and will visit Tech, Virginia, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and Alabama in the near future.

Stay tuned to VTI in the near future for more on Bowers as well as Tech recruiting!
