Phillips Favors Three

Jacob Phillips

VTI spoke with one of Virginia's top quarterbacks, Jacob Phillips, this week. Phillips talked about his favorites, which schools have called this month, his future plans, expansion, and more.

Bath County High School (Va) quarterback Jacob Phillips is one of the top prospects in the state of Virginia through the May evaluation period. A 6'2, 175-pound prospect, Phillips currently has three schools that stand out.

"I like [Virginia] Tech, UVa, and Maryland," Phillips said. "I've gotten calls from Vandy, Duke, Maryland, Richmond, and Virginia Tech so far this month."

Phillips went on to elaborate on his three favorite schools. "Maryland I like because they're trying to bring in some quarterbacks because a couple are graduating," Phillips said. "Tech and UVa are close schools and are good D-I programs."

Although Phillips has not visited his three favorites lately, he has attended football games at UVa and Virginia Tech in the past.

Will the fact that expansion might help the ACC – home of Maryland and UVa – and hurt the BIG EAST, home of Virginia Tech, be a major factor in his decision? Evidently not. "I don't think it'll be a real factor," Phillips said. "I don't like it a bit, but it won't be a big factor."

As for his summer plans, Phillips will attend several camps. "I'm going to the team camp at UNC, a 1-day camp at Virginia, 1-day at Maryland, Tech's camp, and a couple 7-on-7 camps," he said. Recommended Stories
