Busy May On Phone For Texas QB

Daniel Meager

Daniel Meager is one of the better quarterbacks from the state of Texas in '04. How has the Pearce HS gunslinger's recruitment gone so far? Who has called and who does Meager favor?

While Meager does not have any offers early, he noted that his recruitment is going well. "It's going fine," Meager said. "The other day I had [calls from] Purdue, Colorado State, and UTEP. Michigan's called, BYU, and some others. I've had about 15 schools call."

Does the Texas gunslinger, who named Virginia Tech his favorite early in the process, have a favorite at this point? "I really don't know. I'm not sure," he noted. "I just want a place that really wants me to play football. And also, I want a place that has a football tradition."

Meager also noted that distance is not a factor in his decision. "No it doesn't matter where," he said. "I'll go anywhere I can play."

As for summer plans, Meager has just one camp he plans to attend at this point. "I was going to go to Virginia Tech to a camp this summer. When I'm there I might go down to Virginia and take a visit or something too."

"I've talked to the QB coach at Tech, [Kevin Rogers,] on the phone," Meager said. "He just wants me to come down to the camp so he can see me there in person."

Any more plans for the summer? "Not yet," Meager said. "Me and my dad were going to see what to do as far as what schools we need to visit and how much it costs."
