Maryland Fullback Has Four Favorites

Tony Fiametta

Maryland fullback Tony Fiametta was one of the top participants at the Tech football camp held this past week. VTI caught up with Fiametta shortly after the camp to find out the latest on his recruitment.

At 6'1, 220 pounds with a 4.55 40 at Tech's football camp, Tony Fiametta raised some eyebrows and also caught the coaches attention. Was it enough to garner him a scholarship offer from the Hokies?

Not quite. "They said that they might be offering, and that I'm on their list," Fiametta said. "They want to see my first couple games next year and then they might offer. Pretty much all of the schools have said that."

What other schools have told him that they want to check out his first few games next season? "Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Syracuse," Fiametta noted. "And those are my top four schools."

"I've talked to coaches at all of those schools and they said they're going to watch me. They all know who I am," he continued. "I went to camp at all of them even though I didn't get a chance to look around Syracuse."

For now, Fiametta has no leader. Instead, he is concentrating on working out to be ready for his senior campaign. "Now I'm working out four days a week lifting with my team," he exclaimed.

Fiametta noted that he will likely wait until after his senior season to commit to a school. Last season, he ran for 380 yards on 35 carries for eight touchdowns. Stay tuned to VTI for more on Fiametta and Tech football recruiting! Recommended Stories
