Wang Visiting For UM-VT Affair

Ed Wang

Earlier this year, Virginia Tech got an early commitment from one of the best prospects in the class of 2005, Ed Wang. Thursday, VTI caught back up with Wang to check in with the latest on Wang.

"It's going pretty good I think," said 6'5, 260-pound tight end/defensive end Ed Wang of Stone Bridge High School's season. "Our team is doing pretty good and I'm improving on offense and defense."

To date, Wang and company are playing great this season as is evident by Stone Bridge's record. "We're 8-0 and we play Dominion this week," Wang said. Individually, Wang notes that he's playing well, too. "I'm not really sure [of my stats,] but it's like four catches for touchdown and 40-50 yards. I'm starting on defense right now too – at defensive end – and of course at tight end."

This season, Wang notes that he wants to win a regional and state title. After that, he wants to improve his speed, strength and endurance. Wang, who has not been in touch with the Tech coaches recently, notes that he will see the Hokies in action this weekend. "We got tickets to the Miami-Tech game," he said. "I'm coming with my parents. We're coming in Saturday morning and leaving Sunday."

Does Wang think that the Hokies will pull out the win over the Hurricanes? "I think they will," he said. "I sure hope so."
