Bath County QB Knows How To Win

Jacob Phillips

In his four years at the helm of the Bath County offense, Jacob Phillips has led the Chargers to a 47-4 record. Phillips knows how to win and he is proving that again this season.

"We're 11-0 right now going into the regional championship," said Bath County quarterback Jacob Phillips. "We've had a good year."

"I think I've played pretty good," he said. "I've thrown and rushed for over 1,000 [yards each way.] I think I have over 20-touchdowns for each too."

After a 56-8 win in the opening round of the playoffs, Phillips and his Bath County Chargers are preparing this week to face Northwood, a team that has compiled a 10-1 record on the season and is expected to give Bath County a tough contest.

Although Phillips is focused on the task at hand, winning a state championship, he is still involved in the recruiting process at hand.

"I'm still getting calls every week from a few places," he said. "Nobody has offered me or anything. I'm hearing from Richmond, William & Mary, Georgetown, JMU, Liberty, and then UVa and Tech call every once in a while."

Jacob Phillips' brother, John Phillips, a junior, is also receiving letters from the likes of Tech although he tore his ACL in a game a few weeks back.
