Eliades Likes the Walk
Lou Eliades

Posted Nov 7, 2005

Over the summer Lou Eliades unofficially visited Virginia Tech receiving the opportunity to tour the campus, hang out with players, and speak in-depth with members of the coaching staff.

The one attraction he obviously missed was the renowned game day environment at Lane Stadium. Eliades partook in that very environment during his official visit to Blacksburg this past weekend.

“The game atmosphere was amazing – like the fan support,” said Eliades. “Before the game, all the fans lined up outside the stadium and created a lane. They dropped the football players off and they walk through it. Everyone is cheering for them and holding up signs. The recruits got to walk the walk. It was crazy because people were holding up signs for me and stuff.”

Eliades, a 6-foot-4, 283-pound offensive lineman from Oakhurst (N.J.) Ocean Township, spent a lot of time with offensive line coach Bryan Stinespring where they talked extensively about his plans for Eliades.

“Well Coach [Bryan] Stinespring said that he wants to start me out at tackle,” said Eliades. “If I can’t handle tackle, he’ll move me into guard.”

Prior to his trip to Blacksburg, Eliades had all but narrowed his list of schools to three. After the visit, Eliades just might have established a leader.

“I really can’t say right now,” said Eliades in regards to his leader situation. “I don’t want other coaches to get mad at me and start calling me and stuff.

“I have four or five schools, but I’m really concentrating on three – South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Notre Dame. And then there’s Penn State that I’m also looking at.”

Eliades officially visited South Carolina in September, and is in the process of working out a date with Notre Dame.

With a Scout.com four-star recruit anchoring their offensive line, Ocean Township is off to a 5-3 record.
