Commitment Is In

In a tight battle between Central Florida and Virginia Tech for Mario Edwards, the Hokies won out earning a commitment this afternoon from the Atlanta, Ga. Westlake safety.

"I'm going to Virginia Tech," Mario Edwards said. "Probably the academics first of all and second my relationship with the coaching staff. Playing time was big, and I just love their tradition.

"From what I've seen and from when I talked to the coaches, they are graduating a safety this year, graduating a safety next year, and the spots after that are up in the air."

Edwards, who plans to major in marketing, said that Coach Ward also played a big part in making the decision. Edwards hopes to help Coach Ward in recruiting Westlake in the future.

"Oh yeah, I'm going to be a big recruiter for Virginia Tech," Edwards said, adding that he is working on big-time quarterback Cameron Newton. Recommended Stories
