Pinigis Has Three Offers

Eddie Pinigis is one of the top offensive linemen in the state of Virginia in the class of 2003. Pinigis, who has three offers from major college programs, has seen his interest from the Hokies drop in the past month.

Virginia offensive lineman Eddie Pinigis is one of the top offensive linemen in the state of Virginia for the high school class of 2003. A mammoth and talented pass blocker, Pinigis is seeing recruiting take off.

"I have offers from Maryland, UVa, and Wake Forest right now," Pinigis told VT Insider. "Tennessee, Maryland, UVa, UNC, and Florida are my top five. I'd say my top three are probably Tennessee, Maryland, and UVa."

What makes those schools stand out from the rest? "Tennessee is always good and always contends for a national title," Pinigis told VTI. "The coaches are cool and stuff. Maryland - they really turned their program around last year and their recruiting coach seems cool. UVa has been recruiting me all along and I know almost all of the coaches up there. It almost feels like home. It's about an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half away from home."

While Pinigis has already attended camps at Tennessee, Virginia, and UNC, he still has some visits to take this summer. "I haven't visited Florida or Maryland yet but will during the summer," Pinigis noted. "I might go to the Virginia Tech camp for a day as well but probably just for a day."

Many Hokies fans have wondered what the deal is with Tech's recruitment of Pinigis. He told VTI this week. "They were recruiting me but I really haven't gotten too much interest from them. I just haven't heard that much from them, but they were in my top five. I didn't get a phone call from Tech in May so I didn't think they were interested. I've been up there plenty and it's a nice place." With the lack of interest, it looks as if Pinigis has dropped the Hokies from his list for the time being.
