"UNC and Buffalo offered me recently, probably about a week ago," Demps told VTInsider Monday evening. "I was pretty excited about that. It just gives me more options for when it's time to make that decision. Right now I'd say Virginia Tech and North Carolina are my two favorites."
With a 40-yard dash time of 4.35 seconds, it isn't surprising that college coaches would be interested. Last season for Peachtree Ridge he recorded 56 tackles and seven interceptions. He also proved himself valuable on special teams, blocking four punts and four field goals. That versatility means he could contribute in a variety of capacities at a major college program.
"I'm planning on going to a one day camp at Virginia Tech sometime, I'm just not sure when that is off the top of my head," he said. "I like that the campus there seems different than at other places. It's a unique place. I was also impressed with their graduation rates.
"With UNC, I've just been really impressed with the coaches. They've stressed what a good school they have there, and that means a lot. They have a pretty impressive graduation rate too."
Demps also has an offer from Ole Miss, and he is receiving a lot of attention from Florida and LSU as well. How does he feel he could contribute at the next level?
"My best asset is my speed. I just think I can bring a lot of excitement to a game, whatever I'm doing. I make plays when I'm on the field. Some of the coaches recruiting me have talked about helping them out as a return man, so I could do that too."
Demps plans on making his decision after his senior season.
