"Pretty recently I found out that Oklahoma and UConn were offering me," said Ruff, who at 6-3 and 294 pounds runs the 40-yard dash in about 5.0 seconds. "It's exciting to know that one of the best programs in the country wants you, so I definitely have to consider it."
While he may be excited about the OU offer, he isn't getting ahead of himself.
"I don't know what my plan is for making a decision or where I'm going to visit down the road, but Oklahoma is a place I'd like to get out to. I don't think I have a favorite though. Right now Oklahoma, Virginia and Virginia Tech are at the top, but they're probably all about even." The rising senior at Norview High School in Norfolk, VA established himself as one of the top defensive tackles in the region last year, recording seven sacks, and looks to build on his success in the fall.
"Virginia and Virginia Tech being close to home could definitely help them out," said Ruff. "I've kept up with them and heard a lot from them. Virginia was the first school to offer me, so that meant a lot. I'm hearing from a lot of schools like UNC, Tennessee, Georgia and bunch of others, so I want to see what they're going to do."
Ruff plans on visiting Maryland later this month, and may visit Tennessee later. He recently camped at Virginia Tech and said he had a good time. He has been very complimentary of Virginia Tech's defensive schemes.
