Hokies Lead for Lawrence

T.J. Lawrence

Although Athlete T.J. Lawrence is starting to hear more from in-state schools such as the University of Florida, the Kathleen High School in Lakeland, Florida notes that a school outside of the Sunshine State holds the lead for his services.

"You could say Florida is number three on my list right now," said Lawrence. "Virginia Tech is number one, because I love their defense, and Boise State is number two. I like their offense and everything about them."

All three of those schools have offered Lawrence, in addition to programs such as Florida State, Iowa, Miami and Georgia Tech.

At 6-2 and 190 pounds Lawrence runs the 40-yard dash in around 4.5 seconds. He has thrown around the possibility of playing baseball in college, and that thought still seems to be lingering.

"Football is definitely what I'm going to be playing," he explained. "But if I could play baseball I'd like to do that too. Arizona State has told me I could probably play baseball there, but I haven't heard much from other people on that. If I can't play baseball that's okay, but I'd like to do both."

Lawrence stars at both receiver and defensive back for Kathleen. Last year he caught 52 passes for 1,245 yards and 15 touchdowns, while picking off five passes on defense. He does not plan on taking his first official visit until January and is not sure which schools he will go to.
