Becton Preparing for Shrine Bowl

Nick Becton

Each year the Shrine Bowl is something of a last hoorah for high school seniors selected to play in it, but offensive tackle Nick Becton should have a nice college career to look forward to once it's over.

While he's spending the week preparing for his last game at the high school level, he hasn't been able to escape the recruiting process.

"It's going fine down here," Nick Becton said Wednesday. "I've met a couple of guys that are looking at some of the schools I like. We haven't really talked about recruiting, but I've met a lot of people.

"I'm still hearing from all the same schools. They're all keeping up with me a lot."

Where does Virginia Tech stand now that he's had a chance to take an official visit to Blacksburg?

"I really like them," he said. "I'm definitely considering them. The visit went well. I talked to all the coaches and a lot of the players. It was a really good time. My host was Jason Worilds."

Becton said he is still planning on taking his scheduled trips to Alabama and South Carolina in January, and mentioned the possibility of setting up a trip to Penn State as well. Recommended Stories
