McReynolds back from UTEP
Kevin McReynolds

Keep an eye on rising junior Kevin McReynolds. When he officially becomes a junior on September 1st of this year, he could see a number of schools offer right off the bat. His unique blend of size, speed and athleticism has a number of Division I teams eyeing him for their defensive line.
Defensive tackle
Kevin McReynolds
from St. Johns College High School in Washington D.C. is starting to make his rounds so that he may learn as much as possible about the many schools that are recruiting him. McReynolds has terrific size at 6-foot-3, 270-pounds, and has the frame to bulk up even more. He could quite possibly be right at about 300-pounds by the time his high school career is over. McReynolds spent last weekend visiting the University of Texas El-Paso, and had nothing but good things to say about the school.

UTEP
: “I really liked the entire layout of the school. I especially liked the way the stadium was set up, it’s practically built right into the side of a mountain. The area surrounding the school was beautiful, it’s unique compared to some of the other big schools I have seen. I had a chance to speak with a few members of the coaching staff. I briefly talked to their head coach, but he was busy and we only had a minute of face to face time. The school had a very strong tradition, I could really tell a lot about the school because a bunch of the guys come back to finish up and get their degrees, even though they are done playing ball. A few of the guys who moved on to the pros have nothing but good things to say about the school. These guys respect the coaches so much that they look forward towards coming back and giving back to the school that helped them get to where they want to be. My favorite part about the trip was how the coaches made me feel welcome and at home. Even though it’s hundreds of miles away from my Washington D.C. home, I felt like I fit right in out there in Texas. I am looking forward to learning more about their football program, especially what kind of defense they run. Conference USA has been strong the last couple of years, the teams are beginning to stand up to the big boys in the Big 12 and other conferences.”
McReynolds, still only a sophomore, is eagerly looking forward to September 1st, when he will officially be considered a junior and the official offers can start coming in.
McReynolds' calendar for this summer is beginning to fill up quickly, as he already has visits to the
Maryland
and
North Carolina
camps planned.
“Maryland is holding a three day camp, while UNC’s is just a one day camp. I am looking forward towards showing the coaching staffs my game and hopefully they will like me enough to extend some offers. It is still so early in my recruiting process, I really don’t have a specific school or even a few schools that I am leaning towards. I am interested in every school that is interested in me. I am looking forward to becoming a junior so that schools can extend offers if they choose to.”
“I have always been playing with guys who were older and bigger than me. Since I was a little kid, I was always bigger than the kids in my age group. So I have always been working harder and playing with guys who were older and more experienced than me. I think playing with older guys has helped me a lot and will continue to help me for the rest of my high school career and hopefully when I get to college.”
Kevin has learned a lot about playing on the defensive side of the ball from his teammate and friend
Andre Monroe
. These two kids playing alongside one another at both defensive tackle positions make it very tough for opposing offenses to get anything done with the run game. You have two guys who are six-foot tall and close to three-hundred pounds, there are some college teams who do not have guys that big plugging up the middle.
Keep posted to Scout.com for recaps of McReynolds experience at the Maryland three day camp.
